Media area vs SD card

Do you think there is a difference in the phones performance if you have the apps in the media area or on the sd card? Run faster with less lag if they are on the sd card? Give me your thoughts.

The only difference I personally find on either my phone or tablet is that widgets don't run when the app is on SD. Performance is about the same.

Probably faster on internal but barley different, with the exception of widgets
