I recently purchased a GS5, and discovered that every time I used the Gallery, DCMProvider and Downloads processes (as displayed using OSMonitor) would use the CPU for several minutes. However, there is an easy solution: open Gallery, click the top right "settings" icon (looks like 3 vertical dots), select Content, then deselect Picasa (now only "Content in device" should be checked). You might need to reboot or let DCMProvider finish doing whatever it is doing, but after that you should be able to use the Gallery app or camera app without having your phone eat CPU.
