Media volume changing randomly on its own??

hey all,

i have a weird issue that i've never seen before.. for some reason, the media volume (for the Music app) suddenly started dropping to mute continuously. i've had the phone in my hand (not touching any volume controls) and watched the volume level drop repeatedly.. i raise the volume, it drops again. this has happened about 6 times since yesterday, i'm completely baffled by this.

what's worse, the volume has also gone all the way up to max, so i'll be listening to music when all of a sudden it's blaring full blast in my ears and i have to rip the ear phones out.

i don't know how this happened or why it just started all of a sudden, but i need to fix this.

has anyone else run into this or can point me in the right direction?

Just to see, check in the Music app, go to Settings and see if you have Smart Volume selected, if you do, try turning it off and see if it does the same.

nope, that setting isn't enabled.

Did you find a solution for this? I have been having the same issue.

I've noticed it's timed. I turn the volume up into the red, and sure enough 4 or 5 songs later it decreases. It's tied to all the media controls, and I think it's like the safe listening timer on the circle.

I am having the same issue. I'll be working out in the gym when all of the sudden the volume shoots up to max on its own. Or I'll be listening to Spotify or Pandora and the volume with lower itself down to mute. I'll try to raise it again, and it'll go back down again. ALL ON ITS OWN. This is so annoying. Such an expensive phone and such an annoying problem. DOES ANYONE HAVE A FIX FOR THIS?!

Completely agree, this happened to me again recently; I barely noticed because the volume drop was subtle, but regardless- this isn’t just annoying, it’s potentially dangerous (ie, hearing loss).
I’ve had this happen multiple times when the volume has gone up to the max, and I was scrambling to get the volume back down, partly because I was startled by the sudden spike in volume and partly because that volume level is a bit distracting to say the least (especially with in ear phones).
Not to mention, at least once or twice when this happened, the volume spiked again literally seconds after I turned it down.
Not cool at all..

Its happening to me too.
It just started recently for me, but I don't know why
Sometimes when I'm watching a show or listening to music is when it happens
And sometimes it also pauses
