Memory card got deleted and unmounted

Just this morning i was in the middle of playing a game on my phone when a message pop up saying my memory card was unmounted. I went to check and try to mount it again it says the card is blank and if i want to format the card. Did the card just went bad or did something else happened? Also is there a free program i can try to get my media back? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you put it in a PC to see if it was really unreadable?

Stick it in a PC and Windows should see an issue and ask if you want to fix any errors. Try that. DO NOT FORMAT IT if it asks.

same issue here. have put card into many different systems. mac won't see it. photo kiosk at retail store doesn't see it, and the pc wants to reformat. any ideas?
