Memory Issues

Had my Pixel 3XL 128gb Black for 3 days now and haven't experienced any issues with ram at all. I haven't adjusted any battery settings or nothing. I was honestly worried with all the complaining before I got my phone but so far so good. I tried to recreate all the problems to get my phone to kick apps out but nothing so far.

Have you tried listening to music and talking pictures in different modes? It not something I normally do but that is on of the issues. Another issue is that when you scroll through recently opened apps sometimes they have to reload. That doesn't impact me on a normal basis but there could be some concerns with that. For example: you are typing something into an app and by multitasking you go back and all the text disappears.

The good news for the users that are running into this a fix is on the way.

So I just tried your examples. I had Google play music opened took some pics played with AR(playgrounds) did the twist gesture to flip from back to front cams music still was playing. As far as the reload goes it seems that when switch apps the animation is like you opened the app for the first time but it takes you to where you left off... I tried typing on Tapatalk leaving it going into subway surfers came back and my text was still there. Since there no screen recording I screenshot the last example.

Losing text may or may not happen depending on what you are doing. The issues aren't always that straight forward. Again, it's not something that is impacting me. The music crashing was mostly in portrait mode or shooting in continuous mode. Again...it would be rare for me to listen and take pictures and if the music does stop as far as I'm concerned, so what. I don't live my life around my device but I do use it a lot. Everyone has different expectations of what their device should do. Some feel a thousand dollar device should be able to avoid all of these conflicts. I'm not part of that mindset.

It's impacting a really high % of pixel 3 XL users. Even lots of popular YouTube tech channels are experiencing the same. I wish I was one of those users who didn't experience this haha.

i dont know, iPhones cant play Youtube in background while using other apps so to me these case scenarios arent relevant (using an iPhone 7+, waiting for my P3). I rarely have things running in the background while doing something else, i only use navigation in my car and watch Youtube videos (dont multi-task). I am sure this memory issue exists as many have reported it, some more tech people probably do these things more often but dont expect the general user to be aware. my 2 cents.

YouTube yes but if you are listening to music on your iPhone and you all of a sudden bust out the camera to take a pic for example you can just like on Android. Again this I'd just one annoying issue and the other is apps reloading. Either way Google is working on a software fix so I'm okay with that. I suspect the November security update will have some bug fixes already.

For me, listening to music and taking a pic will most of the time close the music app.... That shouldn;t happen. :)

Also if you are having this issue, on your phone go to Settings>>>System>>>About phone>>>Send feedback about this device and let Google know what you are seeing.

Just so im clear, im not defending the fact that the issue exists but mostly stating many general people wouldnt potentially realize its there.

Fair enough, thats correct regarding iPhone music playing in background...but again im not someone whos ever had music playing and had to take a picture. But i am also the type of person that if i did this sometimes and it happened, such as navigating or listening to music then having to do something else, and some app stopped...i would shrug my shoulders and move along. Guess im the ideal consumer for any manufacturer lol

Exactly i respect that and it's okay for you but not for Android users who are used to apps not closing and working a certain way and all of a sudden it's now crashing. Especially as it works properly on all other Android flagship phones.

Hopefully there will be a fix for this since the 2 XL never had this problem that I could tell.

I'll try to replicate some of the problems today. Otherwise, I haven't ran into any memory issues as of yet.

For a temporary fix disable optimization on the apps that concern you or turn adaptive adaptive battery off.

have you guys tried my method disable digital well being, after I did that no issues with camera and playing YouTube same time?

No, because then I will be digitally unwell and you don't want to be around when that occurs.
