Memory Issues

Great.... mine no longer crashes even after enabling optimization. Maybe it took a while for the device to learn what to close.

Same here. Mine hasn't crashed since the first few days when I got the phone.

My wife is always complain that her X isn't any different than the 6S she gave up. I keep pointing out the screen size but it's like she doesn't see the real difference.

Lol my wife just went from the 6 to Xs. To me it's like night and day in speed and agility and that screen is nice, but the damn thing still looks exactly the same as my old 4S did.

I assume after the initial bling wears off say in a week of use, I'd be bored and looking to get back to Android.

I'm also not loving the loss of FPS on the new iPhones. I think Google did right by leaving the FPS on the Pixels, but I really wish they would have just copied Apples gestures. It's very intuitive and smooth to use.

I'm kind of ticked that the came out with the X first in one size. Of course now my daughter wants the bigger one. It's a diabolical plot I tell you....

The X and Xs are both a very nice size, not too big, a little on the heavier side though. I think the Pixel 3 (small version) is the perfect size for me personally.

Google has now acknowledged the issue and are saying there will be fix in the [coming weeks].
FTFY

This is great news, but I'm still throwing my Pixel 3 return into the mail today. By the time the update is released the S10 will be about to release for a similar price but with 6gb of RAM, better gesture navigation, an in-screen fingerprint reader, and a notification LED.

All good except it'll still probably have their goddawful curved screen which I'll never buy again.

Love my S8 other than the curved screen, Sammy/att bloat, and the fact that wireless charging stopped working.

I honestly think the iPhone is probably the best phone overall when you consider smoothness, performance, quick updates, privacy, quality control, and imessage. There was a review for the OnePlus 6t that said it's "90% of the phone for 60% of the price". The main reason I choose android over iPhone at this point is because compared to iPhone, I feel like it's 98% of the phone, for 75% of the price. I couldn't help but feel that I'm getting ripped off if I were to buy an iPhone. To add injury to insult, the repair prices on the iPhone X models are insane and they don't include a fast charger with their phones.

I buy my phones unlocked so there's no carrier bloat and most other Samsung services that I haven't been able to disable don't run in the background if you don't use them, and can be hidden from the app drawer. I checked and the only Samsung services I have running on my phone right now are something for Samsung Pay, Connect, and Bixby...totaling about 20 mb. Either way, why would I care if the phone still runs faster than the Pixel 3?

I agree that the curve on the side of the galaxy screens is getting a bit tacky...hopefully they remove this on the S10. And FWIW the edge of the S9 is less curvy then the S8. I like the curve being on the glass, but not distorting the screen itself.

"We’re rolling out a software update in the coming weeks to keep background apps from being prematurely closed in certain situations." Certain situations? It happens in all situations. Are they even acknowledging the problem here? I haven't had this kind or memory leak issue since my Galaxy S6.

I haven't had it happen to me once .. I run a skinny phone, though.

I going to be patient and not worry about their wordsmithing. There are situations where eventually apps will close... prematurely or otherwise.
