Memory/RAM question

So, sometimes my RAM is up 800-900MB when all apps are cleared and no apps are loaded.

Sometimes it's just 400MB when all apps are cleared and no apps are loaded.

Does anyone know why it does this, is there something I am missing? Does it really matter?

The less free RAM you have the better it is. More free RAM equals wasted RAM. This ain't Microsoft here so you need to drop the old paradigm.

Never thought of it that way, although android is pretty good at managing its own ram usage
