Menu & Back button question

Hello all! My wife's samsung galaxy S5 just got delivered today (cyber fist bump people!) and well it's her first Samsung and my first go at an android device. We just wanted to know if the menu and back buttons near the home button should light up? If so, how? Anyone who has gotten their galaxy S5 or is familiar with this type of device, your help is much appreciated. Thanks guys/gals

on my s3, they light up when u wake the device, and when u push the back or menu key. They dont stay on that long

I figured it out. It was because power save mode was on and I guess it trumps the touch key options. :/

they do light up and you can change the duration of the light in the settings menu.
