Message "Not sent. Tap to try again."

I've been getting this randomly in the past few days. But, the recipient gets the message a few seconds later, at which point tapping on the message neither resends it - or clears the message.

Is this somehow related to a new RCS feature/issue in the latest version of messenger?

Try clearing storage for the "Messages" app on your device...

Yeah I agree clear cache ,data,force stop the message app

Yes, this is a systematic problem with the Pixel 3/3xl that started a couple of weeks ago. It has happened on both my 3xl on T-Mobile and 3 on Fi.
