Question Messages app is the android app

My messages app on my pixel phone has turned to the android head
I've tried updating Apps but it didn't change it... does anyone know how to resolve

Welcome to Android Central! That's the Google Messages app that came with the phone, correct?

That looks like the Favorites row along the bottom of the screen. Try long-pressing that icon, removing it from the row, then open the App Drawer. Does the Google Messages app have the proper icon there? If so, drag and drop it back to the Favorites row.
