Messages app starts with big header taking half the screen

I guess I am lucky as I have a pure Google message app and a pure Samsung message app. By the way my phone is the unlocked Canadian version not associated with any Canadian Telecommunication company other than the sim used.
I also can use either of message apps without problem just prefer Google because all my contacts are listed with Google and not all are in my Samsung contacts.
Using either app I do not see the large header screen and don't use dark mode maybe that is the cause of the problem.
Good luck with solving the problem which might be effecting only a small number of phones.

Yeah might be different for Canadian phones what gets installed, im in The US

Other than price, we do have some advantages up here when it come to regulating telecoms.

I am using the Google messages from the play store, and it is set as default with the Samsung messages disabled, and Google messages has that giant header after the latest Android update I got just a couple days ago. Galaxy S21+ on T-Mobile, if it helps.
