Messages app

[Android Central Question]

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? My galaxy note 8 is up to date, I've restarted and completely turned it off.
When I open the app there is a black screen. It finally loads with all my texts but then when I actually start texting someone the text takes a few seconds to show each letter then something freezing up all together.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist in Safe Mode? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-36242. Also, try going to Settings>Apps​, select Messages, then Clear Cache.
