Messages crashing after Pie update

After updating to Pie my Pixek XL was crashing in Messages so I did a factory reset. Works much better now. Kind of a PITA to log back into all the apps, but performance wise worth it. Just sharing for others who might be having the same issue.

How often does your Messages app crash? I've found that my Messages app (when I got the phone and now, I other Pie) crashes once every other day or so.

It was crashing 10 times per day. Mostly it would prompt me to wait or force close the app, but it lagged in processing inbound messages. Overall it was not usable until I did the factory reset.

Wow! I'm so glad that the factory reset fixed things for you! That many crashes would be purely frustrating.

Just completed my factory reset - changed nothing. Still crashes frequently - this has been awful and a huge waste of time trying to troubleshoot and correct. I'm gonna start looking for a new SMS app. Suggestions welcomed.

If you're looking for a new app, I suggest Textra. Been using it for years. It's awesome. Costs a few pennies, but worth it.
