Do I need to do something to fix my phone or is this notification useless?

Today my phone had an urgent new notification for me. "Messages Detected Using SMS". So what does this mean? Is my phone under attack? Is the Messages app a trojan horse? How am I supposed to reply to the notification? What action am I suppose to take?

Or is this another DUMB notification that just means my phone is doing what I want it to do and is needy and needs to tell me its working?

Android 8.0.0. Not impressed with notifications. Android notifications are like Spam from my phone. I would prefer my PHONE ring when called, and buzz when I get a text, and otherwise let me be. What good is a Smart Phone that annoys us? Not too smart.

Maybe I'm over thinking this. Maybe the developers forgot to remove this before pushing the update. Maybe I'm supposed to ignore all the notifications from the phone. Maybe the SW developers don't expect us to actually read them and act upon them. Maybe I have OCD and this bothers me. My droid never use to do this.

That usually means "open your messaging app and read the message".

Can you show us a screenshot of that notification? I agree, it's very oddly worded. I've never seen that in any version of Android, so I wouldn't jump to blaming Android Oreo for it -- it might have more to do with manufacturer-specific software.

The message is long gone, however I do have a screen shot of the message from Notification Saver app. The message is sent from SecurityLogAgent application, Package: com.samsung.android.securitylogagent. I assume securityLogAgent is a Samsung application. Somewhere there must be a means to turn the notification off or a reason why we received it.

Email with Screen shot is currently stuck in my outbox... Argh another issue. Here's the screen shot downloaded using usb as I'm still waiting on the outbox. Screenshot_20181214-104855_Notification Saver.jpg

As to
open your messaging app and read the message
normally we get a notification with the sender's name with a line or two of the message. For the three or four years I have owned the phone I have never received the notification we are asking about. We are using Messages from Google LLC. The phone also has Message+ which I've disabled, and Messages (from Verizon) which I do not use and am unable to disable or remove. Notifications for Messages (from Verizon) are blocked, Draw over other aps is off, Modify system settings is off, Set as default is greyed out. Messaging app says Messages and clicking on that shows the Blue Messages Icon from Google LLC is selected and the Orange Messaging Icon from Verzon is not selected :)
