so im using the built in Messages app on my N20U and i noticed everytime i recieve an sms,the screen turns on.Is there a way to not make the screen turn on?

No but try pop up maybe turns screen off, toggle it off or silent, check also sub menus there as you tap each category

I have tried those settings before. It doesnt pop up anymore(which i was also trying to turn off). The only option is turning off all notifications for messages.

I think that's the way to go, u only get the icon appear

Yes. Turn off all notifications in Messages settings. But use aodNotify. But i dont really need any notifications other than the New Message icon... Too much spam sms in Indonesia.

It actually notifies user through an LED ring around the front facing camera. Like it blinks or wraps around the front facing camera. In short, its a notification led.
Ahh gotcha sorta like drewwood mentioned edge lighting

Sort of but actually different. Edge Lighting activates the edge. Whereas aodNotify only activates around the front facing camera. You can give it a try. Its neat and doesnt consume a lot of battery.

Yeah will do, also check good lock, I can't at the moment because I'm in beta

Kind of funny, I just posted the opposite.. I'm using google's Messages text app and I want it to activate the AOD (always on display) when a notification/text comes in.. but it does nothing. In fact, none of my apps seem to wake the screen when its off regardless of my AOD settings. It's driving me nuts.

I tried aodNotify, and it is very useful, but the edge lighting that is built into the Note20U still doesn't work on the AOD or when the phone is off (despite the edge lighting setting that says "even when display is off"!). aodNotify has its own edge lighting it seems, but I wanted to use the effects and stuff from samsung.
