So I hear that Samsung Messages is going away. I have no issues with using Google Messages except for one problem I'm having. I have text messages that are from my parents who have passed on. I don't want to lose them, but when I open Google Messages, all of their texts aren't there. How can I figure this out? And why wouldn't the messages be there on their own? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Try an app like sms backup and restore, it's available on the Play store. After you have them backed up you should be able to restore them to Google messages.
Also, Samsung messages is not really going away just yet. Google messages will be the default app but you will be able to download the Samsung app from the galaxy store.
But anything that important to you, you really should back them up.

I thought about a backup app. Thanks for that.

Are you settings Google messages as default? Force stop the app it might take little time to cross over when u choose as default
I usually never give it much time to pull the messages over because I'm afraid of losing them, so I change it right back.
