Messages vs Message+

I just got the note 5 and started texting using messages + but every time I get a reply from anyone the response is always accompanied with a duplicate message. Its aggravating as hell- Has anyone experienced this and found a workaround?

perhaps you could tell me how to delete old message+ messages? unable to find out how to do this. thank you for your time.

Settings>Advanced Settings>Delete old messages...or you could long press on message and delete...

Does anybody has issues with mms I can't send but I receive them I'm using a note 3 verizon phone but on family Mobile (t-mobile) if I use the native messaging app or hangouts they go out just fine any thoughts thanks

I just got the SG5 and I'd prefer the original messaging over the message+ BUT no matter what I do, I can't get the regular messaging to notify me of an incoming message.

I get the sound notification on message+ without a problem, but nothing will work on the regular (original) messaging.
Any ideas please since I'm all out of them ?
Thanks.

Question as well. I put the Verizon messages app on my tablet, but don't need it on my phone because I use chomp sms, Adm I able to get what I text from my tablet to show up on my phone? Even with the app installed on my phone, the stock messaging, nor chomps sms show the texts that I type from my tablet. Any suggestions?

As someone stated before, the Verizon Messaging app syncs to a Verizon server that holds all of the texts sent to the phone number you register (apparently whether it's a Verizon phone number or not) and also texts sent from the Verizon Messaging app.

Either the server has a list of registered devices (which are added when you sign into the Verizon Messaging app for the first time on a new device) that it broadcasts updates to whenever a new text is sent or received, or the devices with the Verizon Messaging app query the server for updates at regular intervals.

If you're really determined to sync across all your devices while using something other than Verizon Messaging on one or more of your devices, install Verizon Messaging on them all, sign into it on all devices and then just use the other apps to actually send texts with.

If that doesn't work "as is" then try making Verizon Messaging the default messaging app, but continue to use the other messaging app manually.

LOL kevnuke, actually that's what I'm doing. A bit tedious but until my favorite 3rd party messaging app has tablet support, this is the work around.

Actually if Chomp adds Verizon Messaging support it would be available on all devices Chomp can be installed on. I'd email the developer of Chomp.

I emailed Chomp Sms several weeks ago! They said thanks for the suggestion and they would pass it on to their devs.

I got a Verizon GS5 at the end of September. I started with Message+, and I loved the ability to text from other devices like my laptop, Nexus 7, and now-wi-fi-only iPhone, and how it keeps things synced. The messages are stored and synced via Verizon servers for something like 30 days or maybe some number of messages (some thousands?).

But I've since switched to more stock Android (or is it Samsung?) Messages, because of some customization available there that was not available in Message+. Verizon servers and the Message+ clients on my other devices still sync and receive my incoming text messages, and I can still text from them. But my outgoing messages from those other clients do not show up in my Messages app, where they would in my Message+ app.

It's not perfect, but it's a compromise that I'm okay with for now. I don't even quite remember what customization I could do in Messages that swayed me to it, so I'll likely revisit that decision at some point and look at the Message+ app again. (OH! One contributing factor to my switch was that Message+ kept crashing, especially after one of the updates...maybe both 4.4.3 and 4.4.4.)

How we're you able to switch to messages from message+ I'm having difficulty doing so. Thanks!

To switch back to stock messaging on your device, just open up the stock messaging app, click on a contact, or click on the compose icon and you will be given the option to make messages your default app. All set from there.

My reason for using Messages instead of Message+ is that Messages has a widget so I can have one homescreen devoted to showing messages.

I like that I can sync messages, but how do I sync the contacts? I only get the numbers from the web not the contact name attached.

So I just got the Note8, defected from Apple. Deactivated my imessage....So when I try to send a group text to my family (all use apple), I can send and they get it- but I don't get their reply.
I can text and receive if I text them individually though.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

PS - I'm using messages+, not sure if I should use that or one of the other texting apps on here
