Messed up the wife's phone - please help

I went to update my wife's Optimus V from Harmonia 1.7 to 2.02 and it wouldn't take. What's worse, not it won't take ANY zip install from recovery (xionia). It goes through the menus, and acts like it's flashing the zip, but it only takes three seconds before I get the Harmonia splash screen, even after trying several different ROMS (CM7, latest and previous Harmonia, etc.) and even the same recover zip.

I made a nandroid backup in the recovery, but it won't flash either. Who knew the recovery was messed up.

Xionia isn't recommended for Harmonia 2. The Harmonia thread recommends the IHO recovery. I haven't bricked my phone yet, so I can't be of any help to you there. Hopefully someone else can lend a hand.

Are you able to boot the phone regularly?

Did you try clearing the caches and formatting everything but the SD card when trying to flash those roms? Have you tried a different recovery?

Xionia works, it's just not preferred.
I don't recommend changing your recovery right now as that is acting as a lifeline. If that corrupts you are in big trouble.

A couple weeks ago mine decided to stop taking a flash as well, then a week later took them no problem. Mine was in a steamy room for a bit, which I suspect caused it. What worries me though is that mine did take the nandroid backup and yours isn't.

This is the nandroid of a 2.2, you may be able to get those to work. Just unpack them into an appropriate folder on your sdcard.


By the way, it could be the sdcard causing the problems. I would get everything off it, then format it with the recovery, then put back on what you need and see if that helps.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice. I made the mistake of compounding the issue by performing an LG factory style wipe. Now it's really dead. Called Virgin Mobile and they're sending me a replacement because it's in the one year warranty period by 20 days or so. Never asked me if it was modified ,so I am going to hold my baited breath they don't come back for some payment . We will see. Guess we can close this thread.
