I am one that has been plagued with the random microphone cut out issue. Am on my second Gnex, both handsets had the problem.
Lately I have been re-booting my phone every other day or so, and have gone for about five days without any mic cut outs. (longest stretch so far)

If you have had the mic issue do you notice a difference in frequency this past week or so?
wondering.

Haven't had that issue on my nex, but i'm glad to hear it might be lessening for ya and my fingers are crossed it stays that way. :)

The same for me. I used to get at least two random reboots a week, the mic problem was happening almost every other call. Now it's been like almost two weeks. The last time the mic problem happened was when my call lasted a hour. I reboot my phone every other day and the random reboots are gone. So maybe the mic problem, is a tower problem. I can confirm that volume plus will make the mic problem happen, the only way to fix it once you use volume plus is to reflash 4.02 again. Meaning to unlock and root then reflash stock and lock the phone again. I have not tried the leak 4.04 because I was afraid that once I did the mic problem would come back. Anyone with the mic issue try 4.04 and the problem went away?

How can you "confirm" volume plus has anything to do with this? What tests did you run?

Many people have this problem that have never installed volume plus.

The mic cut out happened to me before I installed Volume+. At one point I even wiped my phone back to factory 4.0.2 and still had the problem without installing any apps.

Wondering if a re-boot a day keeps the cut out at bay...? I donno.... just been nice to be able to use the phone as a phone... darn nice

Sorry I should of been more clear. I had volume plus installed and was running stock 4.02, was getting the mic problem every other call. Reflashed stock didn't have mic problem except on long conversations. Installed volume plus again and started having the mic problem really bad again. So I Reflashed stock again and the mic problem is gone. Have not installed volume plus and problem has not come back. I'm not saying that VP is the main cause of the problem, I'm saying it can cause it to be worse.

This whole mic cut out problem is a real conundrum.:-\ A real head scratcher. It's hard to know exactly what the cause is whether it be software, hardware or network.

A quick question for those of us with the mic issue...

Are you in an area with frequent 3G/LTE/wifi handoffs?

I ask because I got a new (to me) phone last week and everything was fine for me until I came into my office which is basically on the line of a 4G/3G zone with spotty wifi in the building. About an hour after getting in I got the mic issue.
