Micro SD card just stopped being recognized

I recently started seeing notifications that my sd card is unmounted or that is undetectable. Damaged and corrupted. Just out of the blue i get the message. I simply restarted the phone and all is well. Using the 32gb class 10. And this is on my note2

I also recently started getting unmounted, corrupted, etc errors.

I have tried formatting before and it didn't fix it.

This time, I quick formatted FAT32 on PC, then plugged into device with NO data on it. The phone wanted to format it. I accepted. Still got the same "black card needs to be formatted" message and did it AGAIN.

Hoping to not see any more errors and will followup if I do.

Just thought I'd throw this out there... Started having the same issue on my SIII last night, and like yours, showed no signs of being corrupt. After reformatting and still having some issues, I remembered the trouble began shortly after downloading & installing a new cm10 theme chooser theme... Changed it to another & problem appears to be resolved.

It seems the SanDisk SDHC card has a bad reputation with the GS3. I'm using a SDXC 64g card now. Fingers are crossed.

I have a 32gb class 10 Micro SDHC that was not detected for a couple of days and fortunately I still had my old 16gb card. I popped it in and the S3 detected, then I removed it and put the 32gb card back in and the phone also detected it again. My computer shows the 32gb card as already being in the fat32 format. Not sure what the problem was but I still backed it up as a precaution in case I have to reformat it.

The same thing happened to me. I hooked my SD card up to my computer to take off a video, and said it needed to be formatted. I just took it out and put it back into my phone and then it said it again! It was fine beforehand. I really don't want to lose all of the pictures I have on my SD card, and I don't know what I can do

Don't ever remove the card from the phone. Use es file explorer.

This is the same memory card I'm using (sdxc 64gb). Is the memory card problem with the SG3 a known or common problem that I should be worried about?

I bought a Sandisk 32 gb last year for my Droid 2. When I upgraded to the S3, I moved it over. After a month or so, it wouldn't mount. I sent it back to Sandisk, and they sent me a new one. A few months later, it's dead too. I was thinking of using a different brand next time.

My GS3 started to say that my 64GB SD Card was corrupt and when I formatted the card it still would not work. I put the card into my wife's GS3 and it formatted it then recognized it just fine. I put it back into my phone and it said it was corrupt again. This only started happening on my phone after installing the AOKP 4.2.2 ROM so I am guessing that Android simply will not recognize the exFAT file format going forward. It does with 4.1.1 ROMs and earlier but not with 4.2.2. I guess I will go back to the 32GB or smaller card that can be formatted FAT32.

My wife's phone did not recognize her 32GB card last week just as the OP said and after removing it and backing up the data on the PC and reformatting it and putting the file back on it works like a champ again. Gremlins in the system I guess.

As of yesterday I'm having the same problem with my S3 and Micro SD card. My error message this: "SD card is damaged. Try reformatting it".

I've checked the card in my laptop - works perfectly fine and all the data is there (photos from the camera & music).
I've tried a secondary Micro SD card that I know works in my laptop and I'm getting the same error.

My assumption based on this is an issue with my phone. Any suggestions as to next steps?

The same thing just happened to me! It was right after Verizon applied some updates. I haven't tried reading the card with my laptop. I hope the pix and music are still there!

Acer A110 jelly bean 4.1.2
I went to unmount my 32gb micro SDHC, and I noticed the option "Erase SD card" which I did. Jellybean did not register the card anymore in storage. Even after removing, reinserting, and rebooting. Jellybean has no option to format.
I removed the card, put it in my PC card reader/writer and formatted the card, reinserted to my tablet and everything is Okie Dokie.

So, if your MicroSD isn't being recognised, pull it out, format it (FAT32) and reinsert. Should work fine.

No. These cards should be formatted EXTfat. You should also use an SD card formatter to do it.

I am having the same problem now. My 32gb is no longer detedcted by my tablet just out of the blue. I cannot format the sd card because it says it is write protected. Wait, prior to this all apps that I transferred from my tablet to the sd card were all gone after I rebooted it. The lady who sold me this de ice advised me against restoring it to factory settings because it will void my warranty. She was as clueless as I am though when I asked her what's wrong. She told me she has to call somebody and that she'll contact me whenever she'll have the answer.

This did it!!!! SG3 just stopped reading my 32gb sd. Laptop was reading it fine. Used exFat and SG3 picked it up right away.
