Microcell calling issues

I'm wondering if anyone else here that has a Microcell is experiencing problems with their phone's ability to hold the Microcell connection when making calls or otherwise. I've already had the Microcell replaced by AT&T and the same problem persists where as soon as a call is made it drops the connection with the Microcell and switches to the weak AT&T connection defeating the purpose of having the Microcell. It seems clear that this is a phone issue therefore. VERY frustrating and leading me to believe there's something wrong with the calling radio on the phone. Thanks.

The radio will grab the strongest signal and not switch away from it until it gets too weak to hold. I suspect the microcell is dropping the carrier just long enough when it handles a call that the phone only sees the weak tower signal and connects to it. Then the microcell comes back on and the tower signal is still strong enough to hold, so the phone won't (isn't supposed to) leave it. That's a bad design decision (not always swtching to the strongest signal - which is how the cellphone system itself works, it's not Samsung's or AT&T's fault) and probably a bad microcell design, based on how radios work, not based on how cellphones work. A digital radio can sustain a moment's loss of carrier without noticing it, a digital radio that's part of a cellphone can't.

What's the strangest things here is that there's a web based feature on the microcell which basically disables the call hand-off which would normally be enabled by default. So you're saying that it's inherently an issue with the microcell design if I understand correctly. This defeats the whole purpose of having it. As I type this I'm sitting 3 ft from the microcell and the phone is showing 5 bars. If I make a call it will drop the connection with the microcell and switch to the tower with 2 bars showing. Seems to me its an issue with the phone not holding the 5 bar signal of the microcell.

Yes I have it, there is a thread on XDA about it that I'm participating in at the moment. It's really annoying!

From my s6 active.

I have the same exact issue...exchanged the microcell, sim card, disabled the auto handoff, called Samsung directly....even received a replacement device...nothing helps. I've been arguing with AT&T to write off the remaining 8 months on my Next plan so i can switch out this useless S6 with something else and they will NOT do anything. They said the only thing they can do is send me another S6 and keep sending me S6's for the life of my contract. They won't assume responsibility for this issue. My friend also has the S6 and microcell and she has the exact same problem. When you do a search (I use Google) for 'microcell+galaxy s6', you get multiple pages of results. Too bad AT&T acts like the problem doesn't exist and lets us continue to pay the high prices for these POS phones.
