The Moto Z4 is the only MPP Enabled phone that I know of. It uses a screen that works with the Surface Pen and it's N-Trig digitizer. The Galaxy Note uses the Wacom EMR technology and the Huawei phones with active pens use Wacom AES technology. Unlike Samsung, their pens are model specific so they are not always interchangeable.

With so many compatible pens out there for the Moto Z4 it makes getting one a no-brainer. Some might complain that there isn't a mod to handle the pen and perhaps charge it or the phone. That's a good idea. There isn't a mod to hold bluetooth earbuds and keep them charged also. If there was it would be plenty expensive. Adding the functionality without including the pen is a cost saving decision.

Now I can finally use pen-based and not have to use my big clumsy fingers or, in the case of the other pens with active stylii, use a super thin twig to write with. Though the S-Pen has more features and the Note series has more built in support in their firmware, it's nice enough for me at half the cost.

I use my surface pen and the experience is as expected. I'm able to navigate and use ink in apps that allow it. I make a conscious effort to find and use ink-enabled apps wherever possible and taking notes that way seems natural especially since I use a Surface Pro with the same pen.
