I used to use google and gmail for everything.. within the past couple of days I am feeling Microsoft and their services. I was curious how do you back up your phone contacts to outlook? and does Microsoft sync their calendar like gmail does with google? If so how do you do this?

Yes you can sync everything in settings and accounts, also calendar shouldn't be a issue

Why not use what you need from both services?
I use a mixture of both. I use Outlook to access my Gmail accounts. I still "Google" because I hate Bing.
I use office 365 which has Onedrive.
I merely sync my Google calendar with microft calendar and haven't looked back.

Get everything hooked up and tweaked out via your desktop.
After that it should be fine on all platforms..

I use bing over Google as bing pays me for a superior search engine Instead of Google's offering that is meh.

I use the reward points to pay for my Hulu, Xbox Live Gold, and Game Pass. Bing is a great search engine and they give me free stuff to use it. LOL
