When I connect my 5x to my PC.. I get 4 options on the phone:

Charging - For charging - I get that.
File Transfers - For transferring Files. Yep.
Photo Transfer (PTP) - Again transferring files.. yep.
MIDI - "Use device for MIDI input" it says... Erm..

Im not sure if it thinks it's a midi device and I can hook it to the PC and somehow play music from it.. or it thinks the PC is a MIDI device and can play music to the phone.

Anyone have any idea what this would be useful for??

Additionally: If I select it while connected windows installs a new device, under Sound, Video and Game Controllers.. I get a Nexus 5X device! - Will experiment and see if i can play music via it to my speakers or something..

Not sure, but traditionally there are several types of midi controls.

You could attach a keyboard to play midi samples... you could attach a joystick to play games...

but really, I'm not too caught up with newer uses for midi since USB has pretty much wiped out the need for most things midi.
