Missing Equalizer

It's almost like an extra instrument in the background. It's hard to explain almost like a metal scratching. I just played the same song on my nexus 9 and it sounds great. No scratching.

I'll test it after work with my only good pair of wired cans. What would be defective if the issue is over Bluetooth?

So I'm testing this with poweramp now, adjusting the eq has really minimized the issue making me hopeful my unit isn't defective. It was an eBay purchase so that wouldn't be so awesome.

Also that makes me think I could fix it with root and V4A. Still have further testing to do.

Edit: also noticing that that song is 128kbs.. Might be part of the problem. Its one of the few that sounds like that.

Anybody have any of the LG Tone+ headphones (Ultra, Infinity, etc.?). How does it sound through these?

Welp, this sucks. I just tried my Sony Gold wireless headset (but plugged in via AUX) and that same song sounds beautiful. Even at 128kbps.

So it's my bluetooth audio that is trash. I really only ever listen to audio via BT. I'm not sure what to do about this.

Please see the first post. Google Play Music - and streaming.

yes I'm well aware. But I believe the equilizer can be independent from Google Play music app, when you open the EQ in the 13 MotoX it opens a Motorola app coms.motorola.audioeffects so the one in the LG app may make adjustments on all the audio

LG messed up the bluetooth audio on a previous phone before I believe...if I remember correctly, it can be fixed via software updates. The question is whether you'd like to wait and hope for one or not.

Since it's bluetooth on yours, I guess it's safe to say any bluetooth headphones exhibit the same issue. Can anyone confirm? I use LG Tone+ Infinim. Just curious.

Hey guys! I just got the AT&T LG G4 and was loving it until I went to play some music! I found the same issue as you guys the music sounded pretty bad and there was no EQ. After about 15 trials I was just about ready to return the phone (music is very important and one of the primary functions of my mobile devices) when I found Equalizer FX (Free) by devdnua. It embeds right into Google Play Music where the Equalizer option is supposed to be. It includes a 5-Band EQ, a Strong Bass Booster, a Virtualizer, and even a Volume Enhancer (increases volume). Here's the best part, it only runs like 6 MB in the background when you aren't using it! Then it fires right back up when you start playing music!

Good luck guys and let me know if it works for you!:)

Update: the EQ embed also works with Spotify!

Awesome. Just installed it and can confirm it hooks into Google play music. Thanks man.
I can't test it right now but will when I get some headphones

I too confirm it works and is in Google Music in the settings. Thanks for the head up.

Well, this clears up why there is no equaliser on my G2. Good to know I was not alone. :p
Seems weird that LG, Samsung etc. should actually go out of their way to "ban" it. Maybe it's just something fishy Google does to anything not-pure Android.

You should check out maven player. I tried all other music player app and they all suck. The 3D effect Eq on Maven is really good.

I use either WinAmp or n7Player for listening to music. They have a EQ in te App. I think WinAmp is no longer by n7 works really well.

Oh wow this actually works! And has a loudness booster!

I use the Neutron music player when I not using my fancy Hi-Res music player (dap). I think it cost $5 but has a ton of features including the ability to play lossless music files. The spectrum analyzer is pretty slick too.

Nice sound.... Is there a way to hide the icon in notification drawer or do we have to turn off and turn on?
