Missing photos on my Galaxy S5

This is also happened recently in my samsung note 3.
It's been fine storing and taking photo, but couple days ago i just shocked that hundreds of my photos were gone suddenly.
I have no idea what cause this, and it just so strange only in camera albums and facebook folders that the photos were missing.
Argh so pissed off and desperate of the photos i have taken so far just gone like that :'(
Do anyone know how can these happen?

This recently happened to me too. I remember dropping my phone, so checked the SD card inside the phone to find it was loose.Once put back photos were back..its another thing that can be checked

I have the same problem, and when I take a picture now (or at any time in the last 2 months) I get very strange results.
Some pictures (rear) will show up just fine.
Some pictures are just fine in the little preview in the bottom, but when I tap on them I see nothing, or part of the picture.
Some pictures look fine in the preview, but when I tap on them they come up with a "broken icon" picture.
I took about 100 (or more) picture of the snow storm in Boston in the last few days, and I can't even find them on my device AT ALL - like they never existed, yet when I was taking the picture they all appeared in the little preview window fine, not they don't even show there!!!!
I am saving on my regular phone lately (thinking that it might had being my SD card, but still the same problem.

Something is really screwed up with these phones.

I am going thru the same thing. My Samsung for no known reason will delete all my photos from my screenshot folder and my facebook folder. This was my first Android phone and I have been looking for an answer for months. I like Android but I will not risk this again. I will get drop box or just back them up to my computer. This was a hard lesson for me. I miss my BlackBerry, 15 yrs never had this happen. I will probably be getting an iPhone next and use iCloud. Never again Samsung, I spent too much money for this to happen.

Yes it does show in the gallery. I reviewed the photo, at the time, to show somebody and closed the gallery. When I went back to look for it later, after taking other photos, it was gone. This is the second time this has happened. The other photos I took later on are all there.

Hi guys!

Last week my S5 wiped all my DCIM (Camera) photos i had taken since i got the handset brand new. I have consulted a SAMSUNG IT expert who was totally unaware on this subject/issue.

It is becoming more popular as i have been keeping my eye on these forums i think it was more common on the Samsung NOTE.

There is no way of retrieving the photos back unless you have them saved on a SD card. If you have them saved on the SD card do not use the SD card to save any more data as it will overwrite the data of your photos i don't know a lot about it but take it to a IT guru.

Well the moral of this story is i will NEVER own another samsung i have gone back to Apple and staying there. I lost a considerable amount of beautiful photos i will never get back which included some amazing life experiences and now i have nothing to show for it with the exception of a bank transaction.

If you have experienced this fualt/issue please feel free to share with the rest of the forum and if you have a solution even better!

If experienced this issue today. I tried to look for my "missing" photos everywhere, in other apps and such. Well, finally, i used the file explorer and look under the DCIM folder. There they are... However, they are only "viewable", not "share-able" to other apps, such as Line camera for edits for anything like that. I guess there's some kind of bug with the phone storage system all of a sudden. At least we can view our photos and know they are still there... for sure though, make sure you have connected your camera to a cloud!

Hi,
I took some photos today on my S5 and even reviewed some of them straight away, but now they are missing. I definitely didn't delete any but I can't find them in any folders. Has anyone else had this happen? and if so, is there a way I can get those photos back again?

Thanks for your help in advance :-)

has anyone thought to check their SD card?

the memory cards comes in different classes like C4 or C6 or even C10. memory cards tend to give a lot of issues where data gets lost on a device and then you end up blaming the manufacturer. poor class memory cards will cause you to lose multimedia on your device, it will drain your battery, freeze your phone when wanting browse through your gallery or send a picture to someone on whatsapp etc. it can even cause your device to heat up. the best way to ensure that data is safe, is to do cloud backups from the beginning. technology is temperamental and can die on us at any given time.

example :you upgrade your phone from a blackberry to Samsung and u put that same memory card in the new device. the way the Samsung processes the data on the card is different to the blackberry.

Just had the same unfortunate episode of losing photos on my new Samsung S5 (some pictures were immediately viewed, others were not, only had 28 photos taken on brand new phone before they disappeared). Of note, I am using the SD card I had for 2 years in my previous S2 phone, and never had this problem.
After some unsuccessful attempts to locate the photos (which I knew must still be on my phone because one I had set as my background photo and it still showed as my background, despite not being able to find the original photo in the gallery).
Then I tried taking out the SD card and putting it back in my old phone, and all my lost photos were there! Going to download them to my computer so I can access them easier now. Interestingly, the photos that I took after my photos "disappeared", did not show up in my old phone.
Not sure what is this glitch of how to fix it, but I am very glad to have found a way to access my missing photos and I hope this might help others!

It just happened on my Galaxy Note 4. Every single photo I took with the phone is gone. The only ones that remain are screen shots or downloaded photos. I was just using internal memory but nowhere near used up all the memory. Really disappointing. :(

Hello,
I have an issue with my S5, I can't see my pictures on the gallery app. I recently went on vacations and when I came back, I tried to move the pictures from the device storage to an sd card. For some reason, it said it was successful but when I went to the gallery app to see the pics, I can't! 😭
It only displays a black screen with a "warning sign" on it. I did not have the Google + or anything backing up the pictures so I am clueless on what to do.
Pictures that I have taken recently, I am able to see but not the ones I tried to "move".
Can somebody help me please? I've tried some "restoring files app" and nothing is working.
I did follow some of the steps mentioned here but that did not work either.
HELP!

I just bought back this s5 from ebay cause ihad it new with att and switch to sprint and went apple.. I missed my phone and kept my 64gb card with 5000 photos i had took on my s5 active. Happyto buy a refurbished s5 active on ebay for 265. I started taking photos again.... Only to realize i am having the same problem everyone else here is having..... My photos are mysteriulsy vanishing after taking them seconds after... U get the black broken icon... Then minutes after they just vanish before my eyes into thin air..... Proven testimony i will never invest in samsung technology after this... And i am a die hard samsung with every single gadget they make... Down to my washing machine.

Shame on samsung ... I think this is a virus or something is there anyone out there who knows the answer to solving this issue to save samsungs ****.

I have had the same happened many times, and can't figure out what is causing the deletion of pictures. I can see them, attach them to text msg, then a while later they are no longer in the phone or micro SD. Has any one figure this out??

Have you checked the "My Files" app in your app drawer? Select "images" in the upper right corner.

Yea, heavy and a bottle of bread.

Samsung Galaxy s5 pictures stored to internal memory gone! They were there one day, next day they were not. I have searched My Files ---> Images. This shows FB images and downloads, but only one image from the Camera. Is it possible to use a recovery app to retrieve the images or should I chalk it up to "lesson learned"? Thanks!

I bought a brand new samsung evo 16g SD card for my husbands S5. He took photo's and I transferred the photo's from his old sd card to the new one. The Photo's were there for 4 days then disappeared. I took the sd card out of his phone then put it in mine and the photo's were there, I put it back in his phone went to my files and there was nothing. I put the card into my computer and it said the card needed to be formatted, had the same message when I put the card back into the phone and went to settings- storage. Lucky I had saved the photo from the old phone to the computer but all the new photo's were gone. I have formatted the card again and will see what happens.

FU&**king samsung , that piece of ****ty software of theirs destroyed all my camera pictures... this is no storage problem, since i had a bunch of video files , documents and other images on my sdcard that are fine.

I activated the private mode, for some reason all my pictures on dcim not moved to the private gallery where deleted by their retarded software ... they should just stop programming and leave the job to people who know wtf they are doing.

For sure this is my last samsung mobile phone.

i had the same issue with over 1200 pictures just vanish on my sd card, I would like to say that it's software based, but the only positive i have is that the s5 verizon bootloader can be unlocked and the release for the tool is in my opinion near.
