We've been seeing a few posts about this kind of issue on Samsung phones. Are the photos in question saved to the SD card or Internal Storage?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I recently moved photos from my internal whatsapp media to my external sd card.

I am sure the photos aren't actually missing. But those icons bother me.

That kind of behavior can mean a corrupt or counterfeit SD card. What happens if you copy the photo files back to Internal Storage? And use the Copy command for now, not Move -- if there's a problem with the target file, using the Move command will still erase the source file.

Owh dang. I didnt copy. I moved. And the microsd has been working well so far. Until recently... Maybe SDMaid has something to do with this?

But what if you copy the file back to Internal Storage? Does it show up normally again?

Ok, check to make sure the card isn't corrupt. Go to Settings>Storage, Unmount the card, remove it, and insert it into your computer. Can the computer read these files? Backup as much as you can right now, then run chkdsk to look for bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html.

The card could also be counterfeit, meaning it's actually a smaller size than it claims. Once the phone tries to save more to the card than it can actually handle, files can get corrupted. SD Insight might help, but it can have problems working on Nougat or above.

I am very sure my microsd is real.been using it on different phones for 2 years now. And i think it has something to do with copying.

It's possible that the sdcard is corrupted after 2 years , that why B.Diddy said to test on Computer.

card is corrupted...same thing happened to me on my lg G6 card problem...buy a new and original sd card

Turns out it isnt corrupted. I moved some photos from whatsapp to dcim again. And those icons showed up briefly.

They showed up briefly, and then disappeared again? That doesn't rule out the possibility of a faulty card. Can you try a different card?

Hi, im sorry for not updating. Turns out the same with 4 different cards. 2 x sandisk and 2 x samsung.

The phone's unrooted, correct? How are you copying the files -- using SD Maid?

Hmm, I wonder if there was some bug in the My Files app related to the Pie update? Let us know if the problem comes back!
