Missing voice recorder

So when I first got the m8 it had a voice recorder, but like some stock apps there are better ones on the play store.

Too make a long story short as I can, I've wanted to record but phone is charging in a bad place to record and don't want it to overheat as its 8 hours of recording.

That's when I remembered my old phone ( this was before I discovered I had installed the same good app) I wanted to test the two stock recording apps but the HTC One m8 stock app was no longer in the drawer but in manage apps-->all.

How can I use this app when I can't access it?

Factory reset your phone. After I updated to lollipop I no longer had my stock flashlight app. I asked around and it seems that some of the stock apps go missing after the lollipop update. I performed a factory reset and my stock flashlight app reappeared in my app drawer. Hope this helps.

I did one better, this phone is a new one, replacement, and my flashlight is there
