Okay, so after a few days of messing around with MIUI, this is what I have to say:
Pros:
- Clean (very, verrrrrrry clean)
- Fast (very, veerrrrrrrrry fast)
- Packed full of wonderful utilities and general useful nonsense (the toggles and systems menus almost gave me a nerdgasm).
- 1% battery increments.
- Online support for themes/wallpapers/customization....straight from the phone!...with previews!...that work!...and are fast!
- I love the text messaging app. Go straight to new messages from the lock screen, use the pop-up bubble for quick reading/responding, and the text window itself is fantastic.
- Adding new contacts is really easy. The contacts menu is very quickly navigated as well.
- I do like the fact that there isn't an app drawer, actually. Interestingly enough, I've actually cleaned up a lot due to this, and now only have three homescreens (two for widgets and one for apps/folders).
- The screen brightness control is amazing...thank God. I've always been jealous of people with iPhones who get their screens so dark in dimly lit places while I've been a shining beacon of Droid power consumption. Not anymore!
- Good app compatibility so far.
- Did I mention how good it looks?
Cons:
- Forced closures sometimes.
- Can't get my Liberty splash screen to go away.
- Sometimes the lockscreen needs a second to decide if it wants to work or not (this only happened twice, mind you).
- Battery life hasn't been so hot.
To me, this one's a winner. If I can get the battery to last longer, it might even be permanent. Hopefully that improves with new updates.
