MIUI Ported to the X

Took a dive and are running this ROM. Super nice, many little ooos and ahhhs. I see many think it is iOS and get mad on the web. Well, it does have HD icons, and they are very nice. They are square, and the toggle buttons are great too. The camera is great, and that is why I will stay put for a bit. I bet the wonderful CM7 gets that soon.

hmm my caller id screen seems to be working again.
as well as my vibrate.. not sure what i did, but all is well now

Loving this ROM. The miui camera is great and takes very nice 8mp pics. Though it won't work with widescreen mode, it will suffice to grab "the moment." can't wait to load today's pics from our outing to blogger. @cvpcs, p3droid, cellzealot, CM7, miui, and All the other devices and themes, all I can say is I still love my X and it is like a new phone Again! Dejavu CM7.

If you like AOSP GB goodness, CM7 will not disappoint.

That miui looks sweet, and has iOS candy (with an *** looad of customizations I want to try.) I may try it, but I have been running CM7 for 40 nightly builds, and it just gets better.

I'm on CM7 nightly build 38 now (edit: 42 now, GB based). I needed my car BT to work, and MIUI wasn't cutting it. Glad to find that CM7 pairs reliably with my car's BT. :)

I was running MIUI with Launcher Pro anyway because I didn't take the time to acquaint myself with the stock MIUI launcher/homescreen. Loved all the theme/lockscreen choices online for the MIUI rom, but even those were a little rough (Chinese characters often in there).

I must say that CM7 is super fast (changed my animations and transition speeds with Spare Parts) and it is like lightning. I thought MIUI was fast, but CM7 may be faster. The hard buttons are certainly more responsive in CM7, I often had to press the hard keys twice to get the desired function with the MIUI rom.

yeah i have the same issue.. some people said to turn off voice privacy, but that didn't fix it for me.
if you figure it out let us know
I got it fixed, and here's what I did.

Attempt #1:
I went through the Backup feature in MIUI and backed up everything (phone data and apps I wanted to keep). Then I went into Clockwork and did a cache wipe/factory reset. Flashed MIUI. Flashed the new update. Recovered my data and apps from the backup file. Same problem.

Attempt #2:
Did a full wipe in Clockwork again and flashed the two zip files. Then only recovered the apps (manually deselected the phone data option). And now it works again.

Still stuck with Liberty splash screen, and I'm thinking the only way I'm going to get rid of that is by sbf'ing this biznitch. Otherwise, everything is running great.

i think you might have done more than needed.
it seems (from light reading) that most people are surprised to find their caller id screen working again
and they all probably did what i did.
turning settings on and off and back on again.. i think maybe the voice privacy or one of the caller related settings is the key, but it's an on, off and back on again type of thing and things start to work.
i've had 10-15 calls and it's worked every time. and i didn't do what you did..

hope they get it ironed out soon though, this rom is close to perfect

I actually did try that and it didn't do anything.

I had a feeling that I might have had a bad install on the first go-round because there were some Liberty remnants sticking around and other anomalies (the camera app was left unchanged, for one). So the wipe-and-flash fixed more than one problem.

But that might work for other people. For those that don't know where it is, open up your Dialer, click the menu button, and push Settings; then scroll all the way down to the bottom, push Settings again, and the Voice Privacy toggle is the last option.

edit: Also, I am having better battery life and haven't had any FC's since the reinstallation.

I so love the CM7 ROM. It is top class. I also respect, and are growing to love miui. Being born in china, it is on the "different" side, but refreshingly so. For some reason it makes me happy. The miui camera is split second fast (not used to that on a X) and the HD pics are phenomenal. I took 400+ yesterday with the family at Rocky Mountain National Park. I think it outdoes the stock moto camera (definitively loads fast, and doesn't stall.)

I don't run market launchers on full on custom ROMs' (to me it cheapens my experience, so I save my pro versions for stock ones.) miui is way different, so I went to the miui home page and read for an hour. It does work different, but it is very powerful and full of hidden features that one must learn.

miui has more customizations than I have ever seen on a ROM. I happen to love the Chinese language, so a character here and there is a welcome add for me.

I think both ROMS are similar in speed. For some reason miui seems to have a better web speed and data link than CM7 did for me. I had the hard key problem on CM7, not miui. I don't use BT, but I am convinced that that needs to work, and I am glad that CM7 works well for you. I wouldn't run anything less. I am sticking to MIUI, as it is my new favorite ROM!

I just bought a droidx last night. I've been running an OGD with CM7 for a while but decided to try my luck with an X. I'm on froyo and I got it rooted this morning. I bought the d2bootstrap and now i'm ready to flash a rom. If I put this rom on here what do I do? Do I go through bootstap recovery that takes me to clockworkmod recovery or do I use the stock way (home + power key). I know this is a total noob question but coming from the OGD I'm a little scared. Actually I'm still unsure of why I need bootstrapper at all?? Would anyone mind giving me some pointers so I can start flashing? Thanks in advance!

Bootstrapper, what is that? Joking! Use bootstrap to flash the .zip file, (so I read) or use RM and do it through the app (how I did.) You will be amazed at how different this ROM is to everything else.

Thanks Bro! I'll give it a try.

This was my first experience with a ROM on my X. Had the phone for a while now (3+ months) and had been wanting to root/ROM... just never got around to it between work, travel, car repair, household chores...

So last night I went from .596, used RSD 4.9 (on Win7 64) to sbf/flash back to .340, ran z4root, ran Droid X Bootstrapper (purchased), and installed MIUI 1.7.22. Total process took maybe an hour between all the reboots and triple reading to make sure I didn't brick it.

VERY HAPPY with the results. This is the fastest I've seen this thing. My only complaint is that I can't install Fancy Widgets Pro that I purchased. I can find it in the Market but it won't let me download. :'(

make sure you also flash the patch. that might fix the market issue.

***EDIT***

I nutted up and just went heads first and installed the rom. Everything works great and I'm loving it.

------------------

I have been waiting for this ever since I discovered MIUI. However I have a problem, I am an absolute noob with switching roms. I NEED HELP!!!

1) My phone is rooted
2) I am running Liberty 2.0.1 (Froyo based rom)
3) I have Droid X Bootstrap, Ti, and ROM Manager (free version)
4) I have already backed up all my apps using Ti and made a backup of my current rom using ROM manager.

With all this info can someone please help me with an absolute noobs guide to flash this rom?

I installed this app today just for something different. So far this has been a nice change, really like it.

A couple of questions...

If I try and freeze apps with Titanium Backup Pro it just sits there thinking. Second issue is the dock icon labels are always the same even if I move the icons around. Anyone notice or have a solutino to one or both of these annoyances?

So has anyone had much experience with battery life of miui on other devices? should we be expecting improvement soon? I love some of the features like the pop up text message notification but I have a hard time justifying a 50% loss of battery life when compared to CM7 just for fancy transitions and a few really nice features. I guess I'm just wondering if it is more streamlined battery-wise on other devices you guys have used it on.

it's on par with cm7 - after some tweaks i'm getting decent battery life with moderate usage.

I'm never without a charger at least once a day, so i don't really care about getting 20-40 hours without a charge, i just want to make it from the time i wake up until the time i go to sleep. if i can do that them i'm happy.

with auto-brightness and wifi tweaks i'm getting from 6am until midnight no problems.

I think I'm going to wait for a release on the MIUI site. I gave it a shot, but it's not as responsive as my phone was on Apex 2. Also, they need to do a few recolors so certain text won't be almost invisible. I may give it a shot again later though, because it had great aesthetics.

Edit: Actually, after hearing accounts of others' battery life, I think I'm going to give it more of a chance. So I'm gonna come in and ask for a bit of help. I tried to restore my SMS messages from Titanium Backup without much of a plan of what I would do if it didn't work right. Which it didn't, so now I have a dead messaging app. I tried pulling the APK for the MIUI one out of the zip, but it won't install. What can I do?

Edit edit: Actually, I think I'm just going to reinstall MIUI. I think I wrecked all the messaging functionality ;-;
