MIUI Ported to the X

Yea this is a nice upgrade from what weve been used to since 1916 or earlier. The Blue Light Special(name dropper) menu looks a bit advanced but if we can OC/UV from there, good bye QCA lol.
Battery is gona get tested once that Boot Manager app integration goes thru...
I feel like MIUI, no wait I feel like CM7, no no wait I feel like ICS, how bout a lil Apex. Oh joy my OCD is gona be on OD lol

Im still having issues with Jakebites mod. Just doesnt want to run itself for some reason. V6 is fine and running.

Question,

I just created a backup of my current MIUI rom (1.9.30) and then when my phone booted up it said that 1.10.7 was available. Could I flash it through ROM Manager and receive no issues?

Just wipe data, should be alright. If you ever want to reload your backup you'll have to go to advanced recovery and load the bootloader first. Then go back and run the normal backup of your 1.9.30.

Tried twice to download it from ROM Manager and received errors receiving the download. I'm gonna follow the instructions and I'll report my feedback.

You'll have to go into terminal and do the cat.JPEG hack for it to take on Rom Manager.

Then Rom Manager will work for one reboot.

I got it successfully SBF'd so I could install MIUI 1.10.7 again.

The screencapture was not working for me until I reflashed the zip file Rom Manager provided. Seems like I was in the minority with that little problem. All in all this rom is impressive and there's already talk about the built in wifi tethering being fixed on the next update.

That would be nice to have again. That way we no longer will have to go to the seedy parts of the Google code jungle to get our tethering on wi-fi style. Although I have to say the authors of that app sure got it right. I have never had this much good service wi-fi tethering across devices including my PS3

Question,

Does using v6 Supercharger or Jakebites force your phone to use the beta, Market Su? I had issues when I used it and I don't want to have to SBF again to fix my phone.

If I'm not mistaken, I think this comes with the market superuser already, at least on my phone it did. Look at the superuser app and you can tell by the icon right away. I'd try it, and if things did go bonkers just reflashing the MIUI zip file WITHOUT erasing data would reverse any errors. I flashed Jakebites with no problems but the screencapture was not working for me so it was suggested to just reflash the Rom again. That fixed the bug. Bottom line is, you don't have to SBF.

In the spirit of argument, and my own questions, theories of 2 superusers in my phone I did some googling then testing on my X(which ran smooth as always). I thought why and how could two separate apps manage the same permissions with the same toasty notification. After some Googling, I read this bit from ..MIUI, Redefining Android – MIUI Android Developers

" Basically if you did not already know, MIUI China introduced a new permissions management system into the ROM a few weeks ago, starting with the Phone and SMS permissions functions, this was then extended to the Superuser.apk as a method of License / Trust management for applications which access the SMS and PHONE functions."

So to me that says in China, permissions management system is their Superuser. Since this is a Chinese port for us, the closest(in function and license)app is Superuser. And Superuser is basically bloatware on any rooted ROM. I read up on CHAINSDD's su site(AndroidSU.com) and it was informative.
In the MIUI superuser app, I just unticked manage permissions which gave me a window with the following:
Disabling superuser permissions will disable monitoring of third party malicious software. Are you sure to close this?
I dont see that function anywhere in Superuser yet. Or have I? And I am no closer to a closed argument for my theories of 2 superusers on my phone.

You were right, installed them both and experienced no problems. As soon as I flashed JakeBites, the Market SU got installed on my phone and took over from the MIUI built in version. The Defy base for Droid X is great! I don't care if the screencapture doesn't work because I'm sure it would be fixed soon.

I am a self admitting idiot. I forgot you have to flash jakes thru CWR. Thanks for that post about "flashing" not running Jakes.

How's everyone's battery life? On a single charge with very minimumal use, I got 24 hours yesterday.

I went to bed last nite at 0200 with 90 on the meter. I woke up today at noon with 70 on the meter. I have been G+'ing, texting, 2 calls and Im on 60. Now when I leave it alone it will last at least til dinner time if not longer if I dont use it much. Oh and WiFi is always on.

Running stock I get 12-15 hours with the 3g on. (I'm a power user, Pandora all day via wifi). With 3g off (when I'm not feeling social) I get 12 hours with about 60% battery left. I just flashed BMC Powerboost (similar to Jakebites) so not sure if that will help or not.

Saw this at Rootzwiki...

Haha someone just posted that on my G+ a bit ago. Over at MIUI we turn those threads into things like pancakes vs waffles and cakes vs pies.

Is anyone else having issues with the NFL mobile app? When I attempt to watch videos the app closes.

Edit: Installed the latest bug fix and the app is working again.
