MKBHD really dislikes the Pixel 4/XL

I do wish the OP phones had AOD, but you dont need to pick the phone up either, you can just tap it.

The screen is kind of a half way AOD. It still senses input when off, so you can control things with the screen off, and tapping it will light it up with an info screen. Wish I could make that info screen stay on lol

Honestly though, marques brownlee might just like to pixel for sale, but I trust his tech reviews solemnly like everyone else does! I love my always on display, I do love my notch on my 3XL. I love everything about my phone.

You love the notch?! Wow!! I chose the Pixel 4 because of its forehead and lack of a notch. The 3XL was just fugly. In my opinion, of course.

Hahaha I mean as long as the part of the phone is functional I don't really care. For example, a lot of selfie cameras don't have a wide angle lens. Pixel 3 XL does. Pixel 4 phones have a semi-wide front selfie camera but not a full wide wngle selfie camera if that makes sense. Yeah the pixel 4 has a really big forehead but it adds a lot of sensors like the soli radar etc and that's great! but yeah, I find the notch it's not intrusive doesn't hinder any viewing entertainment I barely ever notice it's there. I remember when the Pixel 3 XL first came out people put dark wallpaper on their phones to try to hide the notch, I tried that a little bit myself. Doesn't matter to me anymore. yeah to each your own ... I mean there are a lot of people here that love Samsung Galaxy phones on the forums. I really dislike Samsung Galaxy phones.

The mainstream YouTube reviewers has kind of gotten exhausting and it’s more theater now than anything. I like the second tier ones that actually take their phone out in the wild and report back on how it worked. Not as great production but better content.

Just goes to show that reviewers don't take the time to really "use" a device. I'd rather spend my money on the experience the Pixel 4 offers vs what a spec sheet would give me on a OnePlus device. IMO.

I thought he spoke well of the Pixel 4 considering it's lack of a wide-angle camera and it's mediocre video performance and it's generally blah hardware. Google seems to be shooting to be the king of snapshots and I think they've locked that up with an excellent point-and-shoot camera with outstanding software. For doing photographs, they don't seem to understand the concept.

The camera is what directs my phone purchase. I had the Nexus 5 and on through Pixel 3, skipping I think the Nexus 6. The Pixel phones to good snapshots but as an amatuer photographer they were boring. So, I switched to a Huawei P30 pro this year and I'm having a great time. I won't do Huawei without Google Android so I don't know where I'll go for my next camera but it won't be a Pixel unless they decide to expand beyond snapshots and improve the hardware.

I left the niche.
