I'm seeing some unexpected behavior when receiving attachments (contacts, pictures, etc) via the built-in MESSAGING app. When I receive a picture, it shows up as a 10sec video clip. It's only a static picture, but upon clicking it the media player shows up and starts scrolling the status bar as if it's a video clip. If I long-click it and select "Attached items", though, I see that it is truly a JPG attachment, and in fact can save it as such.
For that matter, the same thing happens if I SEND a picture...in the text conversation thread, tapping the picture I sent will open it up in the video player.
Having a similar issue with CONTACTS - on the iPhone one of the features which impressed me most was the ability to share a contact via text msg, such that the recipient could, from the text msg app, import the contact directly into the phone's address book.
I've confirmed that this still works if I send a contact to an iPhone user, but when I receive a contact from same and click it, again it opens up the video/media player?!? Long-clicking and selecting "Attached items" shows that the MMS attachment is indeed a VCF file, but saving it merely saves the VCF to the SD card, rather than importing into the phone's contact list.
I should note that in each case the originator of the text message was on an iPhone, but seems unlikely that should make a difference. e.g., when I text them with an attachment, things work as expected (i.e., (picture shows up as picture, a contact can be imported into the iphone contact list).
Any thoughts, has anyone else run into this weird behavior?
