MMS messages and textra

Hi all, I think I read something about this somewhere but can't find it. I use Textra and it seems every so often when I am in a group text I will stop receiving and being able to send messages. If I reboot it helps but tonight I had to reboot twice. The second time did nothing. So I switched to the native app and same thing could not send. Help please and TIA

Are you on T-Mobile? If so, try turning off DIGITS and/or WiFi calling.

Nope none. I only turn on the native app when Textra does this.

This is a known problem with getting/sending group text messages when messages happen fast. Please look at the release notes for Textra. It seems this is specific to Verizon. It is not a Textra problem but Android N.

Does it happen with other text apps and VZW or just Textra. That must have been where I read it. And it does happen in the middle of a rapid group text message session, which sucks. How can I avoid this?

It happens with rapid group text messages and happens with any messaging app. It is a Android N problem. Open Textra and tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Pick What's New and then scroll down to Version 3.38 14 July 2017 and read the update. Clicking on the underlined article link will take you to more information.

Not doubting Textra (too much), but lately any bug that's been reported to them is blamed on the OS... and when you don't see these 'bugs' in other apps, you can't help but wonder...

Well, I haven't seen the bug personally, but I did have other 'bugs' like double notifications on T-Mobile DIGITS, missing texts from ATT due to RCS, and there are a few posts in the forums pertaining to MMS issues with Textra. They all have the same response from the developer: it's Android's fault.

Yet I don't see the same forum posts for other apps, so...

Thanks SPOOK DROID, I will try another app and see if it happens. Sorry about the name forgive me I have been delirious I went back to work this week after summer.

Haha don't worry about it Let us know if you see the issue in a different app, that way we can send the 'Shame' meme to Textra devs

I started another thread on this issue several days ago in the HTC U11 forum. While there's evidence to support the fact that it is an Android 7 bug and not Textra, I have to wonder why it started showing up just after the last Textra upgrade, especially since there hasn't been an Android update for the U11 since I first received it in June, and I had no troubles with MMS prior to last week.

I've also performed a second factory reset (the first one included installing Textra and Googles messenger app, at which point the problems crept back in) and am in the process of reloading apps. I haven't installed Textra yet, am using the stock Messaging app, and I *am* receiving MMS texts, including those with attachments, without any problems. I'll wait until tomorrow to see if everything is still stable.

It's to bad about this problem... Textra is such an awesome app
