MMS Straight Talk Issue. CORRECT APN SETTINGS

I downloaded and am now using textra instead of hangouts. Once I got the MMS to work, hangouts started to force stop. Once I switched to textra, I have had no issues. I also have heard that peoples MMS started to work, once they started getting billed directly, instead of the payment cards. I am so happy now that I only pay 45 a month for all my smart phone needs.its frustrating but worth it.

First day of new cycle, as my 6 month code is over. No changes to anything and magically my MMS works.
Fix is to wait until your next pin code loads.
This is if you change Sims/phones mid pin.

I will report back on 1/11/14 or 1/12/14 when my new card starts. If this indeed fixes it, I will escalate with Straight Talk support. The fix would be easy, reset and add back a new service "pin" to impacted users. Nothing may come from it, but I will try! Worst case I won't buy long term cards if I have plans to get a new sim/phone.

Is your MMS not working after inputting the APN info correctly?
or are you asking for help regarding something that you should google and is not even relevant to this thread? If so start your own thread in the correct forum.

This thread is for Google Nexus 5 Owners that are having trouble with MMS that was working correctly prior to moving to a new phone mid PIN code.

Hello all, Thank you for your help so far. My Straight Talk nightmare sounds like this: Jan 2014; I ported a number from Verizon to Nexus 5 using a new Straight Talk AT&T Micro Sim card. Porting took less than 15 minutes. LTE data showed up right away with the standard APN's. I could not send or receive MMS. After calling Straight Talks Customer service, they stated they would open a ticket with AT&T and I could then send MMS after that (but still not receive). Not sure if it was a coincidence with timing.

I purchased a new month of service, and as soon as I did that, I could no longer send or receive MMS, which was frustrating, as I hoped it would help but it got worse. I purchased a new AT&T Sim card, ported the number over from the 1st SIM card to the 2nd SIM, and I still cannot send or receive MMS. So nothing has helped so far;

new billing cycle, new 2nd SIM card, different texting apps, or any combination of any APN settings (LTE data works, but no MMS) has solved my issue. I don't want to auto-enroll until MMS works.

Looks like I need to switch carriers, as I want to keep my number, but require MMS functionality. Thanks everyone!

Same with me. Thinking of going to Aio because they removed the throttling and are at $45 with auto payment. I have wasted so much time on this damn thing. I really hate Straight Talk as a company.

Textra did it for me! Thanks for the suggestion.

Use your straight talk apn in the settings for mms. No need for handouts, handcent or stock mms app.

Great thing about textra you can change the mms size to unlimited to send and receive and the app is very light and robust.

Maybe the people here on this thread can help. I got the strangest text last night. I only read it just an hour ago, and I'm pretty certain it's Straight Talk trying to adjust my APN settings. I have it saved for reference, and here it is:

DM;1;TFDATA;tfdata;;;0;;;mms3.tracfone.com;80;http://mms-tf.net;7;46258d62dd1602d774974f8902739178

I'm fairly certain that these are all properties in Straight Talk's APN settings, and I need your help to get my cellular data working again.

(Really wish I had put this in there to begin with) If this is the wrong thread to consult, someone please direct me to the correct thread.

(Ok, now it's just getting annoying that I can't edit my posts.) I just went and added an APN to my phone as described in Straight Talk's BYOP plan, and is indicated here: Phone Programming | Straight Talk

It seems stable, but I'm not exactly sure it'll hold. In any case, no additional posts would mean a good thing.

(Again, sorry for posting to this thread 3 times in one day. If the site had let me edit my posts, this wouldn't be happening)

Yes, I bought the STBYOP pack for CMDA phones. No luck with instructions from the box.
Went to the website, entered cell IMEI and whatever else it asked for. Response = Your phone is not supported. #BullS!#T GN2 = Unlocked World phone.

Went back to the kit, found T-Moble sim, trimmed/cutoff the excess plastic. Easy enough with Swiss Army knife.
Replaced VZW sim with T-Mobile sim. Reboot. Waited a little for network activation and synch.
!!Had to get around my Avast Anti-Theft software. Unlock / Found the phone then Trust new sim.
!!Googled how to get rid of "Non Verizon Sim found" icon in notification area.

BAM! Up-n-running. No thanks to STBYOP customer support. Don't even think to get help from them. They will not think out-the-box to help you get right.
Big Up!!!

The reason it didn't work, is because your phone is a GSM phone, not a CDMA device.

My MMS problem was intermittent. One day it will send and the other, it wouldn't. Very frustrating problem. I tried all the combinations of APNs provided to no avail. I also exchanged several emails with Mr. Jose Fuentes of Straight Talk, but the problem persisted. I've just about given up on this issue and have temporarily reverted back to my T-Mobile sim. Might I add, that I am having no issues using T-Mobile. However, I'd prefer to use straight talk based on unlimited talk. :-\

The settings in the OP worked for me. While I haven't extensively tested MMS, the test ones I sent myself from another phone have worked.

Interestingly, the phone tells me (on the notification panel) that I'm using AT&T. Surprised it doesn't know it's actually on Smart Talk (despite being on ATT towers).

Yeah, it will do that since even though its Straight Talk, it is connected to AT&T towers, it will display AT&T.

Mine says HOME in the notification panel. However, my settings are exactly what the OP shared. Yes, it is an AT&T Straight Talk Sim.

Should it say AT&T at the bottom of the lock screen and notification panel?
