When I click on either of the options I get an immediate unable to connect - authentication error. Took the phone to Verizon and they did a system reboot, no difference. New sim card no change. One of the techs thought it might be because I had just changed my data plan and to wait till next cycle. If that does not work then a new phone - something I'm dreading. Any suggestions?

Regards... Steve

Try to connect with a different device, and try it in the store. Try with another note 10 in the store and if that works - ask for an exchange?

Thanks for the suggestions - I used my wifes IPhone and set up a hotspot and it worked perfectly - so much for the theory of the account and billing cycle. Anything else to try?

Is yours an unlocked model? It's possible Verizon doesn't support those features on unlocked devices.

On the phone with tech support for 1/2 hour. After a number of tries and resets they are going to send me a new phone. Really don't want to bring to store and have them migrate, spend 10 minutes and take the old one away only to find out something didn't come over.

Thanks... Steve

I would verify with Verizon that they have enabled these options on your IMEI. It could be that their import of Note 10/Note 10+ IMEIs into their system has only been partially completed. If they don't have those options enabled on your IMEI, it won't work.

I had the same issue. Hopefully you held on to your old sim card?? See below how I resolved it:

"As an FYI about using the Best Buy issued sim card:

I left the store with my device and activated at home with the new preinstalled sim card Best Buy issued me. Something told me to hold onto my old sim and I'm glad I did.

I got home and realized my Verizon mobile hotspot was not activating. After being on the phone with Verizon tier 2 tech support for 45 minutes, I got creative.

I grabbed my old sim that I had taken out of my previous Note 8 that was released to Best Buy, popped it in my phone after tech support reactivated it and wallah I was back up and running. Verizon tech support guy was somewhat frustrated as I simply thought this thing through even though he doubted it would work.

So yeah Best Buy sim card issues definately affected us Verizon customers as well."

Having Mobile Hotspot function removed or non-functioning is a huuuuuuuuuge issue. Hope it gets resolved.

I have an unlocked model and hotspot works perfect which is a plus for me since I can't use it with Verizon model phones without paying extra.

As an update, called Verizon to request new phone due to the problem. Was on with tech support for about 1/2 hour trying lots of options, turning the phone off so he could refresh the sim, etc. At the end he said he would have to escalate so they could put in the ticket for new phone. 2nd level came on and told me there is an open ticket about this situation that happen after the last refresh and that they were confident it would be resolved within 2 - 3 days. Let's hope...

I hate to say it, but I doubt that'll fix it. My wife and I have both had Note phones for years. We both have Verizon and both have the Hotspot feature. It has always worked great on my phone, but never works on hers. With the 10+ she just got (I have one too) I activated it with the new sim Verizon sent with the phone and then got it all set up. I had my fingers crossed that the Hotspot would work, especially since I have tried having support help me in the past and they always default to resetting the phone to factory settings and then replacing the phone. Guess what? Still doesn't work. I don't know WTF is up with this situation, but I'm sick of it. It's probably some small setting that is buried somewhere outside of the Hotspot settings that is effecting it, and somehow gets carried over

Mine was not working either, I did a chat session with Verizon and they had it fixed in 2 hours. Its something on their end.

I kept getting a authentication error. Now it works like a dream!

Hotspot now working. The refresh that went out on Thursday did not fix the problem. Called tech support, they sent an email to some other escalate tech support group and within an hour the hotspot and bluetooth was working. If yours is not working, call Verizon tech support. Tell them to refer to product alerts for 8/21 - mobile hotspot update. They might have to send to the support team as well but it should be resolved at that point.

I recently found out that I'm immediately throttled down to a crawl speed whenever I enable Mobile Hotspot on my Note 10+. A Verizon store rep told me I have an old Go Unlimited plan that throttles my Mobile Hotspot function whenever I enable it. Unbelievable.

After you use 15 gigs of hotspot it does.

The Verizon store rep told me it doesn't matter what amount of data I may have used, I am immediately throttled upon enabling my Mobile Hotspot function due to an old plan I have. I find this hard to believe. I should call the corporate help number to confirm this.
