Mobile Hotspot anad Bluetooth tethering not working

Trying to figure out why my Hotspot ID shows up as Note 8 instead of Note 10+. I have the new SIM card in.

The Verizon store rep told me it doesn't matter what amount of data I may have used, I am immediately throttled upon enabling my Mobile Hotspot function due to an old plan I have. I find this hard to believe. I should call the corporate help number to confirm this.

If you are grandfathered under the original Verizon unlimited plan that was discontinued years ago, then yes that is true.

To get un-throttled mobile hotspot data, you need to change to one of new unlimited plans or one of the tiered plans.

Thank you for your input. Yes I have an old outdated plan. Another rep at a different Verizon store confirmed the same thing about getting throttled immediately. I would need to change to a new/current plan that would cost $10/month more. For now I will hold off on doing that. I don't use Mobile Hotspot much, but the few times I do, I would of course prefer 4G speeds. That's another reason for my interest in using DEX to Windows computer so that I get a direct 4G connection from my phone to laptop via a USB cable connection. My Mobile Hotspot phone function is really only practical for casual usage since I'm only barely getting 3G speeds.

When I click on either of the options I get an immediate unable to connect - authentication error. Took the phone to Verizon and they did a system reboot, no difference. New sim card no change. One of the techs thought it might be because I had just changed my data plan and to wait till next cycle. If that does not work then a new phone - something I'm dreading. Any suggestions?

Regards... Steve

Resolved on a new Samsung Galaxy A50! I decided today after trying several other suggestions to see if the mobile hotspot would work without security/password, and chose the "open" option under Security. It worked!! Then simply reset the password and saved. It has worked ever since! 😊
