New s3 here. When I attempt to start my mobile hotspot I get this error: authentication error. Then it turns back off. I'm on a share everything plan. Thanks for any help.

Btw foxfi works but I'd like to just use the native app if possible.

I'm not positive, but I believe you had to have that set up at the same time you had your sim card programmed....when you bought the phone. Go back to Verizon or Best Buy, or wherever, and have them select it and reprogram a new sim for you. My Gnex was originally set up without, and then I got it set up for it....but I had no signal, so I bought an S3.

Since you are indicating that you are using Foxfi, I am going to assume that you are not paying for the "Mobile Hotspot" feature? If I am correct then in order to use the native app, you would have to download a widget from the play store. I use Widgetsoid and it works fine, but there are others you can use as well. If I am incorrect then, yes you would have to sign up for that paid feature with Verizon.

On the share everything plan mobile hotspot is free. Tech support at Verizon just said I have to get a new SIM card.

Strange that it happened to you. I just had to change plans last week to share everything, and my hot spot works just fine. These things are so finicky.

Update: A new SIM card from the Verizon store and problem solved. Slight bummer though: It reset my data counter.
