Mobile hotspot safety?

If I on my [mobile hotspot] button in samsung s4 to allow a guy to use my phone as a wifi hotspot, will the guy that use my mobile hotspot be able to access my phone data (sms/files...) or steal/copy my phone data?

Yes he might. But he needs to be one hell of hacker to do that. He'll need a great set of tools to accomplish that.
