I still don't understand how Verizon is allowed to block tethering apps after they purchased spectrum for LTE. It seems to me like they are in complete violation of what the FCC's stipulations were when the auction was happening.

On the common sense side of things, why should I pay twice for a data plan? I paid for the data; why should Verizon get to say what devices of mine are allowed to consume it? Verizon communications doesn't do the same thing with their home internet services.


CM7 tethering was working fine for me last week. I was playing FIFA 10 versus some Mexicans on Xbox Live. I guess that's the only time that my connection will be worse than theirs. I'll try it again sometime soon.

That's my gripe too, I see no justification. I can use 5 gbs of data on my phone a month and I can do it tethering it to a laptop. Don't see how I consume any more or less via tethering and I can't see how that justifies $30 a month pricetag. if it was like $2-5 a month, I probably wouldn't care too much. but paying 100% of my data cost to use my data... unreasonable.

As for tethering. I've been using PDAnet for about 8 months now, no problems. Honestly, probably just scare tactics. It would be a long and exhaustive task to crack down on tethering, or at least USB tethering imo and towards what gain...

Looks like we may get some results in a month or two. --if ever. I hope the FCC or the FTC do that right thing and stop this nonsense fee for tethering..
