More people are buying the S8+ than the smaller S8

^^^

That still wont solve the issue with reaching the fingerprint sensor which is already horribly placed but even more amplified by the length of the phone on the plus model. Pulling the shade down can be fixed like you stated but actually pressing the quick toggles in the notification shade cannot. You still have to reach for them and yes, I use the toggles multiple times on a daily basis so it would be a huge inconvenience.
Iris scanner or facial recognition problem solved

To me, other than going for the larger battery which in itself is mitigated by wireless and fast charging, it just didn't make sense to spend more money for a little bit more phone, so to speak. While the S8 is a tad narrower that actually helps it when it comes to one handed use and for my hands the S8 just felt much more comfortable. The plus felt unwieldy to a degree. I think we're starting to get silly when it comes to making phones larger and larger. The engineering feat that Sammy pulled off with the large screen and small footprint on the S8 should be plenty good enough for me. Then again, to each his/her own.

I'm happy I went with the S8. It's always been my dream to have a smaller phone with a larger screen and this is it! Easy to handle and still have screen to work with!

I only wish that it was just a little wider. Other than that, I'm glad I went with the S8.

The V20 has kinda soured me on huge phones. The note 7 was the perfect size for me even with my huge hands. Going to the V20, it's an unwieldy behemoth in comparison. Even though the S8 is all slightly smaller than the note, I can live with that trade-off. Especially with the cost savings. I'm sure the Note 8 will be just as big as the 8+, and that's fine. I'm getting that regardless. I'm only using the S8 as a placeholder.

I wanted the S8 but only got the plus because of battery size.

I get why people made this choice, I almost did. Ultimately though, I'm in the minority, I'm not a "battery life" guy. I need just enough to get me through a moderate to slightly heavy day, and then it's going right on the wireless charger.

Makes sense considering the 5.8" device is really a 5.2" device in portrait mode as far as display width. If used to 5.7 standard displays, that is tiny. Even the 6.2" works out to a 5.4" device in regards to portrait width, so still smaller.

I thought it looked smaller!

You need fingerprint for
Samsung Pay right? Can't use facial recognition?

The V20 is virtually the same size as the 8+. I have small hands and no problem using one handed. Fingerprint sensor in perfect location.

I have flip-flopped several times over the last couple weeks and ultimately settled for the smaller S8. It just feels so darn comfortable in the hand! For most of my media consumption I use my iPad Mini. As long as it gets me through the day - which I am sure it will - that is good enough for me!

I initially had the 8... battery life was ok... traded it for the plus. so happy I did. normally I get the plus variant but after seeing the size I was like eh... the battery life for me makes it worth it alone.

I actually went from the S8+ to the S8 yesterday. I had the S8+ since launch day and I loved the phone. But, it was just a pain to carry and was tough to use one-hand. The S8 seems a better fit for what I need.

I saw this coming a mile away. Look at all the iPhone releases? They all sell more Plus models as well.

Me too. I thought I'd miss the bigger battery but the difference is much less than I expected
