More phone woes...what should I do?

Well my issues continue to build and I am determined not to give up on this phone. I like it far too much. Heres my list as of today:

Im still getting the network connection error from time to time. A lot of times I notice its when my page is on the feeds & updates widget. Not sure if thats the issue. Im going to delete it and see if that helps. That will suck since I like it much better than the FB widget and I like Twitter being right there too. If that is my issue is there an app or something like feeds & updates widget that I could try? It isnt a huge deal and refreshing does fix it mostly but its an annoyance for sure.

MailDroid fixed my mail not coming issue so thats good.

But now I keep getting where my phone will ring and I cant answer it. The touch screen is totally unresponsive. It happened once earlier. I rebooted and then got two calls and it answered just fine. Then just now it happened again. Once the ringing stops the phone will sit for a minute or two and then suddenly the screen is fine. I can use the volume button to silence it and the power button dims and brings back the screen just fine. I just cant touch anything. Not good as I do get a lot of calls that I simply cannot miss. As of now this is my main problem.

Ive also had several times where the icons vanish only to show a small spinning wheel. After about 3 mins they all come back and everything is fine.

Things Im wondering if may be related or causing this are only NoLed and MailDroid. Those are the only two things Ive never used before. Any ideas or opinions? Im still stock and havent done much to the phone other than installing my typical apps and thats about it. Thanks everyone.

You are still stock on EA28? That does seem odd. Did you previously flash custom Kernel / ROM and then go back to stock? If so go into Settings > About Phone and tell us what is listed for:

Baseband version

Kernel version

Build number

It sounds like some apps are hosed and there is a FC happening when you experience this behavior. It takes a bit for the phone to recover and come back.

If you are truly stock you may want to try a factory reset at Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset.

Before installing anything after that see if you can reproduce the behavior. If you can then I would take it back to Verizon. If you cannot put on one app and try to reproduce continue this until you have the apps you need installed.

Also before the factory reset I would backup your SDCard to your local PC. I would also format the SDCard through the phone at the same time you are doing the factory reset.

Ugh I hate starting over. This is the 2nd phone in a week. The first one wouldnt get emails which Ive now come to learn is just the stock email app is garbage. And it wouldnt hang up calls. I would often have to do a battery pull to hang up. I went to FROYO on that one and things got worse so I went back to stock and then had VZW send me this one.

This is stock. Ive done nothing to it. Should I do the reset with the settings>privacy>factory reset? Or Odin?

Maybe Ill delete MailDroid, Feeds & Updates and NoLed first and see if it fixes the issues?

format the crap out of your phone. sd card and system mounts data, cache and dalvic in cwm. let me know if you need to know how to do that. then flash superclean 2.9.

The only thing on that list I know how to do is format the SD card and put superclean 2.9 on if I do it through Odin. Wont I have to do some modem thingy though? I thought I read that but didnt know what it was. Something about texts needing some modem? Im clueless really.

sometimes a hard reset is what is needed. I had to do this on my Incredible when it didn't recognize my SD card all was fine after

ok poor mel. this is what you do.

boot to recovery. go to mounts and storage. format everything, everything. when you are done format everything. then do it again. go back to the begining and wipe data and cache 3 or 4 times. go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache 3 or 4 times. put your phone into download mode and odin flash superclean 2.9. boot to recovery, wipe data and cache twice more for good measure and do the same for dalvic. you should be good and clean at this point. also dont do batch restore with titanium back. just do individual data only restores. good luck. let us know what happens.

Ok Im just letting it charge up a bit before I get started while I chug down the coffee. Came home and passed right out last night and forgot to plug it in.

I dont even know what titanium is so no I wont be using it. The only backup I use is the contact sync. Everything else I enter one at a time.

titanium is a backup you can get from the market it will backup all your apps and system data, it requires root.

Also mikes method seems a bit tedious , i would just use this froyo fix all via Odin

im off to bed , good luck

Ok what is that link? All i got is a download page and I have no idea what that download is or does lol. Do I still clear everything out first like Mike said and format my SD card? And do I still have to install superclean 2.9 after I do this? Im still stock right now. Remember Im just a chick with a phone. I really dont have a clue what Im doing here most of the time! lol

ETA: Does it matter which download link I click? They all have different names so Im not sure.

that file is a froyo fix all, it will rewrite your whole phone to stock froyo, unlike my custom packages, it writes over all the nooks and crannys of the phone . you will not need to wipe anything. the only thing you will need to do is format your card afterwards......

and before you format your card i would copy and paste all the file from the card into a folder on your computer.

follow posts 9 through 14 in this post , but instead of using the DI01 file i provide , use the one i just posted, it goes in the PDA section
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...eturn-stock-remove-system-apps-other-how.html

then after that if you want to flash 2.9 with odin you can use this thread
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ged-roms-w-root-clockwork-updated-3-10-a.html

or if you want to use clockwork you can install cwm ALL from this thread
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...-clockworkmod-recovery-w-screen-captures.html

ok im going to sleep now for real lol

That must be DI01 all in one package. If dan thinks it will format every thing as well as what I was saying then give it a shot. My method only takes about 30 seconds though.

Its actually still downloading. Has been for about 25 mins now and says it has 38 mins left. Says its 435mb total.

The download dropped dead on me with 13 mins left. I tried to go back to Mikes method but this phone refuses to boot into recovery. Ive tried and tried and it keeps just rebooting. I know Im doing it right. I did it with the last phone several times and it worked fine. I just started the download again. I need more coffee.

give my method a try while its downloading. its a lot to type, but it only takes a minute. ive got it down to 30 seconds. make sure you back up your sd card to your pc. make sure you have the sc 2.9 odin package ready as well.
