Bought a moto 360 2nd gen from ebay and it's here but has a custom build on it, not the factory moto build. Should I be concerned? I've never had this happen before, they've always shown up clear as a bell before. Thanks!!!

I guess it would depend on what it is, what its doing, whats been added and whats deleted.

When you say a "custom build"... you mean its been rooted and heavily altered or something else? (I didn't know you could root AW)

Moto is supposed to be deploying 2.0 some time soon. 2.0 is significantly different than 1.5. Mine doesn't have it yet, but you could be looking at 2.0. What happens when you factory reset it? That should wipe it clean back to the factory install.

Thanks for responding!!

The model number says "Smelt" (Not Moto 360), Build number says "smelt-userdebug 5.1.1LDZ22N.M62 140 test-keys" and it's on AW 1.1.11987119

I'm not REALLY that concerned, I don't use Android Pay or allow a lot of notifications to my watch. But using Factory Reset doesn't change anything, someone probably used shell or some other method to put customizations on it. Just ...curious I guess as to how I'm even gonna get to 1.5 or 2.0. I may just return it and buy from Amazon instead.

1.1.11.... thats an older version I think. Definitely not 2.0.

According to this page here "smelt" is an early pre-production AW version that was being prototyped in the Gen-2. Keep in mind the article is from Apr 2015, pre-dating the gen-2 release.

"Smelt could be the second-gen Moto 360 smartwatch. Motorola has a habit of referencing fish when codenaming their devices, and smelt is a species of fish...."

It might be worth keeping. If it works fine, does what you need and the battery still holds a charge, you're getting a lot of features for a fraction of the price new.

For many the 2.0 roll out to older devices has been anything but smooth. Having a watch thats "that" old, I would think means its not getting 2.0... which could be a good thing depending on how you look at it.
