Many thanks to those that helped me with some of the issues I had with the device. The watch looks awesome despite my wife claiming that it looks like I am wearing a gas cap on my wrist. Last night, I decided to try my Galaxy Gear watch once again and made the decision to return the Moto 360. I am still sort of struggling with the idea of returning the Moto 360. I really did like the device and wanted it to work.
At times I found the cards that were displayed useful but, the notification vibrator was not as intense as the Galaxy Gear watch. I also found myself using my phone way more than I did with the Galaxy Gear. Group texts were maddening as they would display as attachments. If I was sent a picture text, it would be appear as an attachment so for both, it involved me having to look at my phone. With the Galaxy Gear, they appeared on the watch which made it nice.
I was able to get 12 hours out of the battery and in some cases, I could get 14 hours even with the new software update. I really liked the ambient screen function and readability in direct sun. Finding what you want on the watch was a little frustrating at times. Took a lot of swipes as opposed to the Galaxy Gear that had shortcuts and you could rearrange the icons and display.
I know that the Moto 360 is still a young device compared to the Galaxy Gear. I will probably revisit the Moto 360 in about another month or 2 but at this point with the awkwardness it did not work for me. Also, with the Note 3 and the Moto 360, the alerts were weird. Maybe it was the compatibility with Touch Wiz or maybe something else. Sometimes I would get a vibration and other times I would get a display and it would disappear. It certainly has potential. I also liked being able to use a wider variety or software as opposed to being locked into the Samsung ecosystem.
