Moto 360 screen stays illuminated while charging.

I've got a moto 360 2nd gen. running wear OS 2. I have the "always on screen" off and everything works just fine. Just when I put the watch on its dock the screen goes completely off for about halt a second and then stays black, but the back light goes on.
And yes I know, I can turn the screen off via this one button next to airplane mode and then it will stay off even while charging but I want to be able to see the time when I touch the screen while charging.

I moved this from the Moto 360 forum to the Moto 360 (2015) forum, since you mentioned you have the 2nd gen.

Turn off the always on screen.
go to Developer options and turn off "Stay awake when charging".

With these settings it will behave exactly as you want. From black tap the screen and it will light up dim for only 3-4 seconds to show the time and charge status. From black press the button and it will light up bright to show the time and charge status for a second and then dim for a a few seconds and then go back to sleep.
