I am considering an Android Wear watch and have it narrowed down to the Moto 360 & the LG G Watch R.
Pros & cons (from my perspective
Moto 360 pros
  • Wireless charging
  • Smaller
  • Looks slightly more elegant
Moto 360 cons
  • Older tech inside
  • Worse battery life
LG G Watch R pros
  • Ring around screen helps protect screen some
  • Better battery life
  • Easier to do debugging if I want to
  • New tech inside
LG G Watch R cons
  • Uses dock to charge
  • Larger
  • Doesn't look as elegant

For those that have used both, which do you prefer? I want a round watch so that rules out the ASUS Zen Watch. Is there a new round Android Wear watch on the way I don't know about?

Moto 360.

Moto 360.

Not seeing one other spec for the Moto 360 that the G Watch R has, dust & water resistance. The G Watch R has IP 67 and since I ride bike to work year round that would be nice.

Why do you prefer the Moto 360 though?

I had the 360 for less than a week and switched to the LG. THE 360's battery life was TERRIBLE, on top of the fact that it wasn't always on. With the LG it's still a watch with the screen always on, and it has so much better battery life. I EASILY get through a whole day with plenty to spare. With the 360 I had a day I didn't get through the whole day. That for me is just unacceptable.

I agree I like the look of the 360, but I like the LG's screen being on all of the time a lot more. That's my 2 cents.

I have the S5 with the wireless charging plus the Moto 360 and love it. With them both using th3 same charging tech the shorter battery life is no issue. The Moto 360 charges very quickly if needed so I find myself typing off the watch when I am sitting at my desk or watching TV.

Well,
Unfortunately for me my wife decided no wearable for me, she'd rather I buy stuff for my mountain bike instead (like a better fork/brakes).

Sorry to hear that smscloud. I thank you for starting this post because i am ready to trade in the lg gwatch for either the watch r or the motto 360 I just cant figure out which I want best. I would like good battery life. I like how the 360 looks. I also have seen plenty of watch faces look so much more cooler on the 360 than the LG. The LG however does look pretty nice on the wrist (coming from someone who wears G shock) I would like to hear more of your guys opinions if you dont mind to help me try and decide why one or the other. Thanks guys

Well, I do commute to work on bicycle most days so it isn't a horrible thing. And yes, the really cold days stuck (I live in Minnesota).

I haven't used the GWR so I can't compare battery life between the two. I can, however, tell you I get MUCH better battery life on my 360 then you indicate. For example: I took my watch off its charger this morning around 8am and used it all day including a 45minute cycle (checked my heart rate at least 5 times, and used it to control my music), a couple google searches and many, many notifications throughout the day. It is 10:30pm as I am typing this and I have 64% battery remaining. I rarely end my day with less than 50%.

OP....too bad your wife vetoed the smart watch but bike stuff is cool too ☺
Plus all the next gen watches are just around the corner.....

I play with my food

Yeah,

I did get her to agree to let me get a smart watch in the future (if I still want one). Just that future is after we get a house, I get a new motorcycle & car.

I am now considering a smart watch and these are the 2 I'm most interested in. The Moto 360 currently has the edge due to its look, but I don't want something that stops working frequently (360 discussion board is riddled with problems).

Moto 360 battery was fixed with an update I charge it every 2 days. It also looks nicer than the LG g3 I love it I have the slim band on mine it's sexy
