Moto 360 won't disconnect

I've got the original 360 running Marshmallow and am now trying to connect it to a new G4, because my old one got stuck in a boot loop, but whenever I press the "Unpaid from this device" button it comes up with the factory rest screen and then switches off. When I switch it back on all my data and apps are still there and it's like nothing's changed. I'm just wondering if there are any fixes.
