What is the standard # of seconds between "pulses" of Moto Display? Mine seems to be 5-7 seconds which seems very frequent and despite the battery-friendly nature of the feature. Does that seem right to you? I couldn't find anything on the forums or professional reviews on this. Thanks.

I also wondered this. I'd want to turn this off and just get one notification as it comes in.

Looking at mine through a camera the only time they are off is when the display is on. I thought that they have to be on all the time so that they can register a hand or whatever over the phone so I just assumed that it was normal to have them on when the display is off.

Sorry - not sure if you understood my question. When your phone is inactive, how often does the clock/notification icons flash on your screen?

Sorry I may have misunderstood your question, do you mean how long between the clock/notification display going out and lighting up again? If that is what your asking then it doesn't light up again until it is activated by picking it up or waving my hand over it.

I thought that you were talking about the 3 sensors that detect movement over the phone.

No, you're still misunderstanding the OP. What they mean is, when you get a notification on your phone when its idle your screen will keep flashing up the notification every so often until you acknowledge it. It keeps flashing up every so many seconds. It is quite frequent I have noticed that myself. Don't think there's any way to change the time between pulses though, unless it can be achieved through rooting?

Now I know what he means thank you. I never noticed it before, just checked and it lights up 6 seconds after going out and stop completely after 6 minutes.

Yeah, that's about right. The "battery friendly" part of it is that it is only illuminating those few pixels because of the AMOLED display. From a pure notification perspective a regular notification LED is more battery friendly, but I think the argument is that you can quickly dismiss notifications without turning the screen on if you know you don't need to address them.
