Moto G 2nd generation 4G 6.0 no sound

All of a sudden...I can't hear incoming calls, but people can hear me. I can hear fine on speaker phone though.
Looked every where for a fix but can't seem to find anything!
Please help!

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist after a reboot, or in Safe Mode? If so, then the earpiece speaker might have failed.

it does persist after both reboot and safe mode.
how could I test that the earpiece speaker has failed?

If it doesn't work in Safe Mode, then there's a good chance it's a hardware problem. The only other thing to try would be to reinstall the firmware, but that might be pretty involved.
