Here's how T-Mobile presents their coverage:

Their site no longer gives the option of showing their coverage without their "Extended LTE" network. No need to wonder why. Here's what Sensorly reports for T-Mobile 2G/3G coverage in the same area:

Quite a difference, no? That's the coverage my wife and I, for example, would get. Now one could argue that, my phone being now three years old: It's on me. But my wife's six month old phone that was originally listed to include Band 12?

To be fair: I only have Lenovo/Motorola/whatever's claim that TMO's VoLTE certification process is painstaking and expensive. For all I know: They're simply being cheapskates. Or trying to persuade customers to move up to the more expensive X.

I'm in grand rapids and had to cancel project fi because any time I was on Tmobile I couldn't do voice+data. I'm very unimpressed with tmobiles service in general, which is why i havent left verizon :-/

Interesting. T-Mobile claims they have solid 4G LTE coverage in Grand Rapids, not dependent upon Band 12.
